KUALA LUMPUR: One minute Ain Shafika Mohd Padil and her sister, Nurul Ashikin, were walking to school as usual and the next, they were sent "flying" through the air.The sisters only realised what happened a few moments later when they regained their senses and saw a car smash against the wall of a kindergarten in Jalan 18, Taman Selayang, Gombak, yesterday.
Ain Shafika said they had just got off a bus about 7.20am and were walking to their school, SMK Taman Selayang, about 200m away.
"We were walking at the roadside and all of a sudden, things went black.
"When I opened my eyes, we were lying on the ground. Near us, there was this Perodua Myvi, which had crashed into a kindergarten."
Nurul Ashikin said she did not hear any honk or tires screeching before the crash.
Their mother, Rohani Mat Din, 40, said her daughters were sent to Selayang Hospital and given outpatient treatment.
"Ain Shafika suffered cuts to her head, a bruised right heel and back pain.
"Doctors had performed checks on her, including X-Rays and luckily, she did not suffer any major injuries.
"Nurul Ashikin did not suffer any cuts or bruises, but the back of her head had become swollen."
Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the 22-year-old driver was sending his sister and her friend to the same school when he lost control of the vehicle.
"Police believe the car was being driven at high speed," said Rahim.
