TAIPING: The Taiping Lake Gardens lost one of its iconic raintrees after a heavy storm uprooted it.

Taiping municipal councillor Koi Eng Hoe said the council received a report on the incident on Wednesday evening.
“The raintree that is over a hundred years old was uprooted due to strong wind and blocked the main road surrounding the lake gardens.

“Luckily, no one was injured during the incident and the municipal council is in the process of clearing the debris,” he said.
