GEORGE TOWN: Penang Police are seeking the public's help in finding a teenage girl reported missing since 6pm yesterday.
Barat Daya district Deputy Police Chief DSP Lai Fah Hin said 14-year-old Yee Tze Wei was believed to have gone out dressed in her pyjamas after her family found her blanket on a table outside the house at MK 10 Sungai Ara Bayan Lepas, here.
"The girl's father had gone to her room to wake her up for school at 6am when he saw her missing. She also didn't bring along her spectacles," he said in a statement here today.
Police investigations found no signs of a break-in and believe the teen had left the house through the back door which was found open.
Lai said the victim's father, Yee Tee Haw, 49, admitted that he forgot to lock the door that night as another family member had yet to arrive home.
He said Yee also claimed to have no debts with loan sharks or involved in any misunderstanding with anyone.
The victim, who is 152cm tall and has shoulder length hair, was last seen in pink colored pyjamas.
Lai said police had classified the disappearance as an abduction case.
Those with information can contact Investigating Officer Insp Prem Kumar at 012-4589864 or the nearest police station. -- BERNAMA
