DUNGUN: It must have been a match made in heaven when two teachers met, fell in love and married, several decades ago.
Since then, Che Wan Mohd Yusof Che Wan Endut and Fatimah Muda had been inseparable.
They had children and grandchildren, and served the community in various capacities.
Their love for each other knew no bounds, said residents of Kampung Jerangau Sungai where Che Wan Mohd Yusof, 71, and Fatimah, 64, had lived.
Yesterday, the first day of Syawal, Che Wan Mohd Yusof and Fatimah died in separate hospitals, within an hour of the other.
Each was overcome by breathing difficulties, suffered a stroke and died, without even a goodbye to one other.
A daughter, Che Wan Rashimah, 44, said her father died at 5.40pm at the Kuala Terengganu Hospital, while her mother died an hour later at the Kuala Berang Hospital.
"I have been taking care of my mother at home while my father was warded at the hospital since Tuesday, and looked after by my other siblings.
"When my mother became critically ill yesterday, I received a call from one of my siblings that my father's health was worsening.
"When my father died, my mother was sent to the Kuala Berang Hospital where she died upon arrival," she said at her house in Kampung Jerangau Sungai here yesterday.
Che Wan Mohd Yusof and Fatimah were buried at the Kampung Panchor Jerangau cemetery yesterday. Bernama
