Pahang Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) director Khairiah Mohd Sharif said Taman Negara (National Park), the Main Range and several forests in Perak, Terengganu and Johor had been home to tigers.
She said based on Perhilitan''s study, there were currently 500 tigers in the forests of the peninsula.
"They are totally protected and cannot be hunted or kept," she said.
