Malaysian cookbook tastes success at culinary awards

PARIS: A Malaysian cookbook won a prestigious culinary award here when it was deemed the “World's Best Cookbook”.
Food for your Eyes, published last year and penned by two medical profes-sionals, wowed a jury panel of international judges at the 2013 Gourmand Awards when it beat six other contenders from Sweden, Canada, New Zealand, Venezuela and Croatia.
Authors Dr Kenneth Fong, a consultant ophthalmologist and retinal surgeon at the Sunway Medical Centre, and Goo Chui Hoong, dietician and culinary instructor, received the prize at the Gourmand's 18th Awards Gala at Le Carrousel du Lourve at one of the world's largest gathering of cookbook publishers, authors and agents.

At the same awards, Malaysian celebrity chef, Chef Wan, was recognised for his contributions to food TV with a Special Awards of the International Jury for TV-English, beating six other contenders including Britain's Jamie Oliver.
