ALOR SETAR: World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei defeated China's Bao Chunlai 21-9, 21-19 to bag the Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold tournament at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here Sunday.
The top seeded Malaysian took 42 minutes to down the seventh seeded Bao for his fifth title of the year.
Chong Wei easily won the first set but Bao took the fight to the Malaysian before going down fighting.
In the last match of the night, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong defeated Indonesian pair Alven Yulianto-Hendra Gunawan 21-16, 21-7 to win the men's doubles title.
Earlier, Malaysian mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying went down fighting to Indonesia's Tantowi Ahmad-Lilyana Natsir.
The Malaysian pair won the opening game 21-18 but lost the next 15-21.
In the decider, Chan-Goh put up a strong fight before losing 19-21 to the Indonesian pair.

Men's Doubles: Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong (Mas) bt Alven Yulianto-Hendra Gunawan 21-16, 21-7 (Ina)
