Welfare aid system revamped

KANGAR: The widely-criticised system of distributing monthly welfare aid will be replaced with a new and efficient system.

Currently, the money is paid on a staggered basis, causing some recipients in the same district, being left out of the list but now the recipients from each district will get the aid on the same day.

Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu said many had complained of the weaknesses in the existing system.

"The family either came to the community hall or the department staff will visit them at their homes but the method is time consuming and caused much delays.
