ANNUAL JOY: Recipients from various charity organisations
after receiving contributions from Genting Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with the Chinese New Year, Genting Malaysia Bhd donated RM230,000 or RM5,000 each to 46 charitable organisations.

"When we make a donation, be it in cash or kind, we are contributing towards a cause we feel is important and can make a difference in people’s lives. When combined with similar actions of others, it can bring about positive changes tothe community and to the world,” said Genting Malaysia chairman and chief executive Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay.

He said the annual contribution began in 2001. It is organised along four core areas of interest — the community, environment, workplace and marketplace — and was a direct reflection of Genting Malaysia’s values and goals.

The charitable organisations chosen this year ranged from orphanages and homes for the elderly to training centres for the disabled and NGOs.

The recipients included the Beautiful Gate Foundation for the Disabled, Hospis Malaysia, Little Sisters of the Poor, Malaysian Association for the Blind, SHELTER Home for Children, Sungei Way Old Folks Home, Rumah Hope, Malaysian Federation of the Deaf and Yayasan Sunbeams Home.

Persatuan Saiva Siddhanta Malaysia assistant secretary S. Muthiah says although they got a small grant from the government, it did not cover all their expenses.

"Since 2006, we have been receiving annual contributions from Genting Malaysia. It comes in handy, and we are grateful the company has a kind and compassionate nature.”

p/s: Hopefully for the next year joy Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay also remember at us (PDK Selayang), small NGO's with big heart.
