SHAH ALAM, June 17 (Bernama) -- Dengue cases in Selangor are increasing at an alarming rate with 1,101 cases recorded from January to June 15, compared with 265 cases for the same period last year.
Local Government, Study and Research standing committee chairman Datuk Teng Chang Khim said the number of dengue-related deaths had also increased with 31 deaths during the period, including three new deaths registered last week.
"The situation is quite worrying... compared to the whole of last year when Selangor recorded only 28 dengue-related deaths.
"While many preventive measures have been taken, dengue cases in the state continue to rise with three new deaths recorded in Petaling, Klang and Gombak," he told reporters after attending the Selangor State Assembly sitting here Tuersday.
