PUTRAJAYA: No section of society should be marginalised because of their disabilities, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said.

Instead, they should be encouraged to play their part in the nation's development agenda.
"Those with special needs also want to play their part in contributing to the country's development so that we can achieve developed nation status," she said in her speech at the opening of the Community Rehabilitation Centre's (PDK) Products Carnival here yesterday.
Rosmah, who is the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) president, encouraged the public and private sectors, as well as individuals, to support the disabled community through the provision of necessary skills, education and monetary funds.
"I believe they also want to be independent and make a living for themselves.
"I am certain that (for them) a job is not just their right, but also concerns their dignity of being able to be independent and proactive in contributing to society and the country."
More than 1,000 from the disabled community took part in the sales carnival selling various items ranging from food to agricultural produce to paintings at their booths set up along Putrajaya Boulevard, Precinct 2.
The carnival is part of the Semai Bakti initiative, which aims to help those with special needs.
Under the initiative, special needs individuals are given the chance to socialise and learn skills that would help them to better themselves and be more independent.
Present were former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, deputy prime minister's wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abd Rahman, and Putrajaya Corporation president Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat.
Rosmah expressed hope that the items produced by the special needs community through the PDK centres would be promoted in local markets.
"I hope government agencies, such as the Agriculture and Agrobased Industry Ministry and the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, can help to evaluate, guide and promote their products in the local market."
Rosmah said such a move would help the community be self-sufficient, especially if their products could be sold nationwide.
