LRT and Monorail to operate full rail integration on Thursday

KUALA LUMPUR: Klang Valley's LRT and Monorail networks will fully integrate their stations beginning on Thursday, thus providing the convenience of using a single ticketing system when travelling on the two rail networks in the city.

Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) Group Director for Rail Division, Khairani Mohamed said the commuters travelling on the LRT and Monorail networks would now enjoy the convenience of changing lines within the integrated stations and only exit at their final destinations.

"We are happy to announce that we are moving to the second phase of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) by integrating all our three rail networks, LRT Ampang, LRT Kelana Jaya and KL Monorail.

"The move effectively upgrades the stations of Hang Tuah and Titiwangsa as integrated stations for KL Monorail and Ampang LRT line while, Masjid Jamek is the integrated station that links two LRT lines of Ampang and Kelana Jaya," he said in a statement here, Wednesday.

Khairani said construction works were still running at both Ampang and Kelana Jaya stations as well as the renovation works for beautification and upgrading facilities to provide better comfort for the commuters.

The first phase of the AFC integrated ticketing system was implemented in November last year by integrating the two LRT lines of Kelana Jaya and Ampang with Masjid Jamek as the integrated stations. - Bernama
