KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened 36 investigation files on issues raised in the Auditor-General's Report 2010 released Monday.
Two of the investigation files were opened in MACC headquarters, two in Sarawak, three each in Penang and Johor, six each in Terengganu and Kedah and seven each in Perak and Sabah.
The commission has also carried out investigations on most of the issues raised in the report based on public feedback and complaints, MACC said in a statement.
The statement said MACC also welcomed the cooperation from all quarters in giving information concerning the Auditor-General's Report.
On the fact that MACC was listed as one of the nine government agencies with excessive expenditure, the statement said:
"The excessive expenditure of 0.73 per cent was due to the payment of annual bonus or special financial aid for officers in Grade 54 and below according to the Government's General Order through Service Circular No 10/2010 and No 11/2010.
"It does not mean that MACC had violated any of Treasury Instructions or financial management procedures." Bernama
