Agong bids Selangor farewell

SHAH ALAM: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah bid farewell to Selangor residents Friday on the final day of their three-day official visit to the state.

They had earlier attended a farewell ceremony at the Dataran Dewan Negeri Selangor, Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, here at 9.15am.

Tuanku Mizan and Tuanku Nur Zahirah were greeted by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim. Also present was Agricultre and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar.

Tuanku Mizan received a royal salute before the national anthem and Selangor state anthem were played by the Royal Malay Regiment Central Brass Band from Sungai Besi Camp, followed by a 21-gun salute.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong then inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, Sungai Besi Camp.

This was followed by a doa recitation by Selangor Mufti Datuk Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid before the two anthems were replayed.

Tuanku Mizan and Tuanku Nur Zahirah departed at about 9.30am while hundreds of residents lined the street waving the Malaysian and Selangor flags in goodbye. - Bernama
