CAMERON HIGHLANDS: At least one died and 10 others are still missing after tonnes of earth hit an Orang Asli settlement in Kampung Sungai Ruil in Tanah Rata near here today.

In the 5.30pm incident triggered by heavy rain, six houses were believed to have been completely buried under the rubble.

At press time, the identity of the dead Orang Asli, said to be a female, was still not available.

She was said to have died on her way to the Sultanah Hajjah Kalthom Hospital in Tanah Rata.

Two other Orang Asli, identities also not available, who were injured in the landslide had been rushed to the same hospital.

Hundreds of rescue personnel, comprising the police, firemen and General Operation Force personnel were still scouring the area for victims.

All heavy machinery, including lightings, to facilitate search and rescue operation were already at the site.
