Local celebs auction sofas for charity

Here's how you can shop for a good cause and go easy on your wallet: Limited edition MACY sofas individually designed by top Malaysian celebrities like Harith Iskander, Amber Chia, Jojo Struys, Daphne Iking, Dynas Mokhtar, Ash Nair, Dennis Lau, Joey G, Patricia Sue Lin Knudsen, Hannah Lo and husband and wife duo Vanidah Imran - Rashidi Ishak will go under the hammer on July 10 at BMW Ingress Auto.

The charity auction is in support of Yayasan Chow Kit, a shelter home for underprivileged children in Kuala Lumpur.

"This is our final push to sell these gorgeous limited edition sofas. Harith, Ash Nair, beatboxer Shawn Lee and Dennis Lau are all performing pro bono and I'll be tap dancing to live percussion myself. It will be a fun-filled Sunday. We're looking forward to raising funds for the kids in Chow Kit," enthused project director Jojo Struys.

The celebrity-inspired sofas have gone on sale since May.

Funnyman Harith admitted it has been a fun-yet-arduous task putting all the sofas and celebrities together. "I wanted a sofa that would fit into any creative space. The blue velvet is a daring contrast to the black base, making it stand out and look edgy. This is a really funky sofa you can't miss if you saw it in any room. The moment I saw the fabric, I wanted to touch it. There was something so silky and sexy about it!"

Hot model Hannah Lo vouched for her design, saying, "The sofa I have designed is something that will catch your eye the moment you walk in the room. The colours are solid and stark. It might not be for everyone's taste - but some will love it!"

It's a Sunday not to be missed. Auction starts from 2.30pm onwards. The BMW Ingress Auto showroom is located on Jalan Damansara, Sg Penchala.
