2,000 primary school children in 6 states don’t have birth certs

KUALA LUMPUR: About 2,000 primary school children of all races and throughout six states are without birth certificates, said Human Resource Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam.

He said Monday that his ministry was working with all state Education Departments to trace parents of such students in an ongoing effort to address the issue of children whose births were not registered.

He also said that he was waiting for more information from the other states.

So far, the information about students without birth certificates had come from Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Perlis, Pahang and Johor, he said.
