POTHOLE-riddled roads and floods are the main concerns of residents in Kampung Kasipillay, Kuala Lumpur.
The residents said the bad condition of the roads was caused by heavy vehicles and shoddy repair work.
Rukun Tetangga member Abraham Moses said it was difficult for elderly people like himself to walk around unaided these days.
Not safe: Moses (left) needs the help of friends like Gurdip Singh to walk around his neighbourhood.
“The road is so uneven that we have to be careful,” said Moses who walks with the help of a cane.
He added that Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) contractors would usually patch up the potholes but there was no end to the problem because of the shoddy resurfacing work.
Another RT member, Gurdip Singh, said the contractors’ patch work would be washed off by heavy rain or damaged by heavy vehicles going to a condominium construction site nearby.
“Our roads are not meant for vehicles weighing more than three tonnes,” said Gurdip.
Floods are also a long-standing problem that was supposed to be addressed in 2009 with a pump house.
