JITRA: Families in the Kubang Pasu district who were affected by last year's flood, each received RM500 in compassionate aid from the Federal Government recently.
The aid was handed over to 1,820 families by Kubang Pasu district Member of Parliament Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum at Dewan Jitra last week.
"A total of 6,715 families were affected by the floods in the district in November last year. The aid will be distributed, in phases, to flood victims who have registered with the National Security Council.
"The government hopes it will lessen the burden of the flood victims," said Mohd Johari, who is also the Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister.
He suggested that the National Security Council come out with a mechanism that would help them to manage the distribution of aid efficiently
