KUCHING: Sarawak will bear the costs of sending back 67 students from the state to Egypt, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman said.
The state government would decide today on the flight back to Egypt after a discussion with the students, he said.
“Their number is small so we may use a charter flight to send them back to Egypt this month,” he told reporters after visiting the site for the new RM2mil Batu Kawah mosque here.
He added that some of the students might decide to continue their studies in local universities.
Meanwhile, Daud said construction of mosques in the state was progressing well despite some delays, including the Batu Kawah project. About 85% of mosque projects in the state were on schedule, he added. — Bernama
