KUALA LUMPUR: The search and rescue team in Christchurch is constantly on the move to locate missing Malaysian, Sandra Hii.

Hii, from Sarawak's Sibu town and a King's Education College employee, is reported to be the only missing Malaysian following the eartquake that jolted Christchurch last Tuesday.

A Christchurch earthquake operations room spokesman in Wellington said the team would continue with its efforts to look for missing Malaysians.

"We are facing difficulties because some did not get themselves registered," she told the News Straits Times yesterday.

She said communications had also been breaking down because of the disaster and hampering rescue and monitoring efforts.

"We have been calling up Malaysians here to check on their safety and to find out whether there are more missing," she said, adding that Hii was the only Malaysian officially registered as missing.

"For now, there are no reports of other missing Malaysians."

Hii was reported missing by her friends on the day of the earthquake.

There are 636 Malaysians in Christchurch, including 390 students.
